Looks like the quarter finals matches of the Euro 2008 belongs to the underdogs. All three underdogs had qualified for the semi-finals and they are Germany, Turkey and Russia. So can another underdog, Italy make it four in a row?

Spain will be going into this match against Italy as the clear favorites after their dominating all their 3 earlier group matches. Spain defeated Russia 4-1 in their opening match followed by a tough 2-1 victory over Sweden. Spain closed their group matches with a 2-1 win over Greece.

Meanwhile, Italy had to huff and puff to qualify for the quarter finals. Italy lost 0-3 to Netherlands in their opening match before a lucky 1-1 draw with Romania. Italy finished their group matches in style with a 2-0 victory over France.

No doubt Spain will start as favorites for this match as they strolled easily passed their group matches with ease while Italy had to struggle to get through to the quarter finals.

Anyhow, i will be going for an Italian win. I hope they can do it on 90 minutes! Enough of extra time and penalties for me. Forza Italia!

Spain beat Italy 4-2 on penalties here on Sunday to reach the Euro 2008 semi-finals and in so doing break a number of painful hoodoos.

Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas saved penalties from Daniele De Rossi and Antonio Di Natale before Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas buried the winning spot-kick after the match had ended 0-0 after extra-time.

Spain will play Russia in Thursday’s semi-final here, having already beaten them 4-1 in their opening Group D match.
